             Kamrup College, Chamata , one of the never -center of higher education, situated in western part of erstwhile Kamrup district, now Nalbari district, was the brain-child of some renowned academicians and social thinkers hailing from greater Chamata area.

        Imbibed  with the noble VISION of spreading of education in the one educationally 'not to advance' west -Nalbari area, the Sikhsha Bistar committee of Chamata under the dyanamic leadership of late Gauri kanta Talukdar ,the noted academician and politician took the lead role in the expansion of education in the west Nalbari area, and Chamata become the nerve center from where the trades wind of higher education started blowing around.

        The college with its serene atmosphere and green surroundings has been the vital center of academic and intellectual pursuits providing an opportunity for interaction among students hailing various ethnic backgrounds and the guiding principle of the college has been  to help students meet to leadership in the social cause. over the year , the college has been maintaining records of brilliant performance in various University and council examination.

        Besides the academic syllabus ,different cells like NSS,extension education, Student's support ,health awareness, career Guidance, Academic and Cultural forums, Alumni Association and many others are found to be operating for the benefit of all concerned.

        So far as the academic and socio -culture activities of the teachers and students are concerned ,each department arranges seminar, academic talks etc. In addition to the normal routine work . departments are keenly interested in displaying wall magazines, cultural item and publishing literary works.

        On the whole kamrup College , chamata is the heart of the people of the region, and they always expect it to march on through the path of progress radiating the benediction of virtue ,wisdom, knowledge and competence.
